PNR ALSF 2023 Move-A-Thon and Closing Out 2023
Hello Family and Friends!
It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is just around the corner, and 2023 is coming to a close. We hope this note finds you healthy and well, and ready to round out the last few months of the year. As part of this newsletter, we’d like to share the results of our 2023 Paul’s Move-A-Thon event, and provide you with one last way to make a donation to help us finish the year in support of the next round of PNR ALSF scholarship recipients!
Another Successful Move-A-Thon
A huge thank you to everyone involved in Paul’s 2023 Move-A-Thon (MAT), whether as a participant or a donor. Leaning into one of Paul's greatest passions, physical fitness, we successfully raised approximately $7,500 from nearly 80 registrants and donors. Whether you walked your neighborhood, explored on your bike, swam in your favorite pool, rolled along on your favorite trail, bent into a yoga pose, or did any activity to get your endorphins pumping – you did it! Your pledges will enable us to continue to impact the lives of underrepresented youth and adult learners destined for higher education. Again, THANK YOU for your generosity!
A special thanks also goes out to Gatorade for their drink and swag donations on UNITY Day. These items were a valuable part of our onsite workout survival kit!
We also extend a heartfelt thanks to our four Move-A-Thon trainers, Cherish Hicks, Joey McDarrah, Cara Janz, and the one and only, Bryan “B Jack” Jackson. More on B Jack below...
Below are some of our favorite moments from this year’s Move-A-Thon.
In Loving Memory of
Bryan Jackson AKA “B Jack”
A Wonderful PNR ALSF Supporter
As many of you know, we added some new and fun features to this year’s Paul’s
Move-A-Thon. Four dedicated and highly-skilled trainers each led attendees through
an invigorating, virtual workout every weekend in June.
One of those dedicated trainers was Bryan Jackson, AKA B Jack, who also hosted the PNR ALSF UNITY DAY workout on Saturday, July 1st at the Limitless Gym in Chicago.
B Jack was a master trainer for the Nike and Jordan brands. It was through these brands that a connection was formed with PNR ALSF Vice President, Ariyana Randolph Miles. A fixture in the Chicago wellness community, B Jack also had friendships with many members of the PNR ALSF board and donor base. Sadly B Jack’s body was recovered from Lake Michigan at Promontory Point in Hyde Park on Sept. 9. He is survived by two children, Apollonia, 10, and Bryan Jr., 6. The Limitless Gym where B Jack trained will be renamed “B Jack Way” in his honor. We cherish B Jack’s selfless contributions to our Foundation. His spirit and warm smile will truly be missed.
Greetings from Our Board President
Greetings All,
As this year quickly draws to an end, I find myself reflecting on the success of the PNR ALSF this year, and I am in awe and extremely thankful that so many people supported our simple mission. We recognize that there are several ways you could choose to use your charitable dollars, so my sincere thanks to all who championed the cause by making it a priority to donate to our foundation.
I also want to give a serious shout out to our incredible Board for their efforts to execute a successful MAT while balancing so many things in their personal lives. Their unwavering commitment to the PNR ALSF -- and ultimately to Paul’s memory -- is nothing short of amazing!
As we look to close out the year, we remain focused on providing scholarships to as many students and adult learners as possible! That said, I ask you to please join us on National Giving Day (or Giving Tuesday) November 28th by donating to the PNR ALSF. This simple act may just be a catalyst to changing someone’s life and putting them on a path to An Abundant Life.
Wishing you love, peace and joy,
Van
